swaping animals
This article explains that the Manila Zoo in the Philippines is trying to arrange the trade of their crocodiles with the Tanzania Zoo’s elephants and giraffes among other animals. it also explains how many other zoos are in the business of trading animals to try and increase their variety. since the Manila zoo has over forty crocodiles they are willing to trade with Tanzania for some of their mammals. The Manila zoo was started in 1959 with around 500 animals but many are old and sick now so they are trying to get more. however some people think that the animals should just be released into the wild. they don’t think it is right that the animal are put on display for human entertainment.
I’m not quite sure how i feel about swapping animals between zoos. i suppose that if the animals are very comfortable in their transportation then it would be okay, but i think that it would be in the best interest of the animals to move them as little as possible to try and keep them comfortable and happy, which in turn will keep them healthy. even thought i agree with the idea of swapping animals i don’t agree with those who say that the animals from the zoo should be released. the animals in the zoo are taken care of very well and they aren’t mistreated. if you were to release them into the wild most of them probably wouldn’t survive because they don’t have the skills to do it. so i think that even though some think its bad for the animals i think that for these specific animals keeping them in the zoo is best for them.

the upsetting wings losing streak
This article expresses the dissapointment that the Detroit Red Wings have in their losing streak. the are dissapointed especially in their defense. Many of their hurt players arent helping their situation and they are having to pull up some players from here in Grand Rapids. their coach, Mike Babcock says “I think it’s very evident how important our Big Three (defensemen) are, and we better have them healthy.” this statement shows in the fact that the wings have allowed three or more goals in the past three games each. they are giving up a lot of turnovers and playing very poorly defensively. Chelios states that they need to start playing like they are in the playoffs or they have no chance in these last few games.
in this article I like all of the stats and quotes that the author uses. i think that the quotes give a few different perspectives and they show how the team especially is feeling about the loses and what they plan to do to try and get a few more wins. i think that the stats put the reality of the loses into perspective for us as fans of the red wings. so over all i enjoy how the author of this peace wrote it.

a new arrival
This short article from the United Kingdom welcomes the new born baby giraffe named Margret. This baby was born to the Chester zoo of the United Kingdom at just 35 kilos, and only 5 feet tall. she is the first calf of her mother Fay and was born two weeks early. along with being her mothers first baby she is also the first female giraffe born at this zoo. Aside from being the first female giraffe born at the soo she is also the smallest they have ever seen so she is being hand raised by the keepers at the zoo. Although she is small the zoo has large hopes for this small giraffe.
I find it interesting that of all the animals born in zoos every day they chose to write about a giraffe. I think it is good that people in this world arent only focused with things that have to do with humans but also with things that have to do with animals. Especially species that arent very large. I suppose that that could be one reason that this particular paper chose to write about a giraffe being born. None the less i find it interesting that someone would take the time to write about my favorite animal the giraffe.
